IPlan is an Argentine company with a decade of experience using technology to improve and simplify the business of its clients. For this reason, GDS, a regional leader in the provision of integral solutions for decision-making, opted to use the company's services.

GDS needed to organize training for its supervisors and sales team at approximately 60 points of purchase within Argentina (in the provinces of Chubut, Neuquén, Mendoza, Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Tucumán, Salta, Chaco, Misiones and Córdoba).

In the past, the company organized face-to-face training sessions in the most important cities of each region: Córdoba, Rosario, Mar del Plata, Tucumán and Mendoza. This meant planning the trips of both instructors and participants, not to mention the costs: travel expenses, hotels, transport and venue rental, in addition to the time required for each two or three day event.

The Solution

What GDS needed was to implement a flexible online videoconferencing service that could provide training quickly and reduce the need for training trips. Iplan’s solution was provided in partnership with Wormhole IT. The “IPLAN Online Conference” allows GDS to hold business meetings and work sessions via Internet. With this platform, users can share documents, images and presentations during the sessions.

Benefits

By implementing online training, GDS reduced the need for training trips by more than half. The hands-on sessions are now only done at the points of purchase. This translated into savings of up to 70% for GDS. While two trainers used to make eight trips every month, they now do six to eight virtual meetings and make three or four trips in less than two weeks.

The orientation time required for new salespeople was also reduced, improving customer response times. Training has become an ongoing process and the application allows GDS collaborators across the country to participate in a single session.
